Emanuele Filippi, pianist and composer from the Friuli Venezia Giulia region and winner of the
Chicco Bettinardi, Massimo Urbani and Lelio Luttazzi awards, formed the trio in New York with
Sicilian double-bass player Giuseppe Cucchiara and Neapolitan drummer Marcello Cardillo.
After taking up the piano at the age of 8, Filippi obtained his diplomas in classical piano and
jazz music at the Udine Conservatory of Music under the tuition of Glauco Venier and Michele
Corcella. He subsequently moved to New York, where he studied under Fred Hersch, Kevin Hays and
David Virelles. He founded the Udin&Jazz Big Band and in 2019 their debut album “Polyphonies”
was released by Artesuono recording studio.
Giuseppe Cucchiara moved to the Big Apple after obtaining his diploma from Berklee College of
Music in Boston. He studied there under Ron Carter and played all the major clubs, including
the Jazz Gallery, Smalls and Dizzy's. At age19, he released his first record as a trio with
Dado Moroni and Stefano Bagnoli.
Marcello Cardillo studied at the Amsterdam Conservatory, where he was chosen as the only winner
of a half-year scholarship to the New School in NY. He won first prize at the Bucharest Jazz
Competition in 2017 and has also performed with John Clayton and Wycliffe Gordon.
