Finalists at the 2018 Conad Jazz Contest

Pianist Ergio Valente, double bassist Aldo Capasso and drummer Marco Fazzari form the Ergio Valente Trio. These three keen, talented musicians from the Neapolitan jazz scene came together to start the band in 2016. While African-American mainstream jazz plays a big part in the musical background of the three young artists, they always keep a close eye on developments in contemporary music. As well as constantly seeking out jazz standards to study and arrange, the trio presents original, brand new compositions. They have grown as a band by studying, working with a range of artists and taking part in numerous festivals and events, at which they have won prestigious prizes. 2018 was a particularly fruitful year: as well as making it to the shortlist of finalists in the Conad Jazz Contest and earning the right to perform at Umbria Jazz, the three talented young musicians won the Chicco Bettinardi Public Award at Piacenza Jazz Festival, won a Special Prize at Bucharest International Jazz Competition, and performed at the 2018 Fara in Sabina Jazz Contest, where the double bassist Aldo Capasso claimed first place in the International Fara Music Jazz Live Awards. Building on this success, in November 2018 the band recorded their first album, which was produced by Emme Record Label.
