Manuel Morbidini

This saxophonist, composer and improviser studied at the Perugia Conservatory, at the same time as studying philosophy at the University of Siena and musical disciplines at Bologna University. A particularly important part of his training was working with Roscoe Mitchell and Aldo Clementi. He is mainly interested in the crossover between jazz, ‘highbrow’ music and improvisation. He has played in a range of festivals – including Umbria Jazz, Crossroads, Vicenza Jazz and the Sagra Musicale Umbra – and has written music for theatre and multimedia performances. As well as heading his own groups, he also plays with Dan Kinzelman’s Ghost and is part of the Società Vesna group.
