Founder of Auand Records, Marco Valente was born in a household where music was not considered important. However, aged 13 he had a flash of inspiration and initially filled his room with pirate cassettes of every kind and then with CDs, which were only and exclusively original (was this a form of atonement?). Aged 20, he decided that he wanted to learn the jazz double bass, a choice which eventually placed him on a number of very good stages. In 1997, armed with a 14.4 modem, he had the idea of putting Italian jazz on the internet, first through a portal (ijm.it) and after a few months through an online shop (jazzos.com). A few years later, in 2001, he established Auand Records, producing some of the most interesting musicians from the latest generations (7 have won “Top Jazz” as best talent). From 2007 to 2015, he worked alongside the talented singer-songwriter from Puglia, Erica Mou. In 2012, he founded the still extremely active Nazionale Italiana Jazzisti, which made its début at Umbria Jazz in 2013. His latest enterprise dates back to last year, when he founded ADEIDJ, the Independent Jazz Labels Association, of which he is chairman.
