Conad and the Umbria Jazz Foundation are pleased to announce the overall winner of the 2025 edition of the Conad Jazz Contest: Saihs.
Saihs, a sextet formed in Florence in 2023 “for their meticulous arrangements and the balance of their solo performances,” have won the grand prize of €5,000 as a career contribution, as well as a tour of Italy’s most renowned jazz stages, with promotion on the Contest’s official social media channels throughout the year, and distribution of their EP (extended play) by Universal Music Italia.
The official announcement was made live on Radio Monte Carlo by Stefano Bragatto, Director of the station and President of the Artistic Jury appointed to judge the live performances of the 10 finalist bands on July 14, 15, and 16 on the “Conad stage” of Umbria Jazz in the Carducci Gardens in Perugia, before a large audience of enthusiasts.
The Saihs, composed of Giulio Tullio on trombone, Giulio Mari on trumpet, Giulio Barsotti on double bass, Matteo Zecchi on tenor saxophone, Edoardo Battaglia on drums, and Lorenzo Fiorentini on piano, perform a jazz repertoire of original pieces, drawing inspiration from the sounds of modern and contemporary jazz and arrangements of traditional jazz standards.
The awards won by Saihs ensure significant support for their career launch, starting with a performance at Jazz Italiano per l’Aquila (September 6-7, 2025), and continuing with other important events such as Umbria Jazz Winter #32 in Orvieto (December 28, 2025 – January 1, 2026) and a tour of Italy’s most renowned jazz clubs.
Vincenzo di Gioia of New Apulian Wave will receive the Most Promising Musician Award, which will secure him a place at the Berklee Summer School at Umbria Jazz Clinics 2026.
Supporting Umbria Jazz and young talent is part of Conad’s sustainability strategy, called “We Support the Future,” which is based on three fundamental pillars: environment and resources, people and community, and businesses and territory.
