Saxophonist and composer, he completed his musical studies at the Perugia Conservatory, graduating at the same time in philosophy at the University of Siena and in music disciplines at the University of Bologna. He also had the opportunity to study with Roscoe Mitchell, Muhal Richard Abrams, James Newton.

Of particular importance for his education was his frequentation with Aldo Clementi, of whom he edited a cycle of transcriptions edited by Suvini Zerboni and recorded for Amirani Records. Active professionally since the second half of the 2000s, he has had the privilege of working with some of the greatest personalities of the international jazz scene, including Wayne Shorter, Bill Frisell, Thomas Morgan, Quincy Jones, John Clayton, John Scofield, Gil Goldstein, Joe Chambers, Lewis Nash.

In addition to conducting ensembles in his own name, since 2017 he has been music director of the Umbria Jazz Orchestra.

He recently collaborated with Ethan Iverson on the making of Bud Powell In The 21st Century, released by Sunnyside Records in 2021, and directed the first run of Uri Caine’s Seven Dreams.
