Bologna, 26 May 2022. Conad and Umbria Jazz Foundation, historical partners of the Conad Jazz Contest, announce today an extension of the deadline for applying to the ninth edition of the Contest. The past two years of forced stop did not favor the activity of young jazz musicians, both solo players and bands, and many contacted the organization to request additional time to be able to finalize the registration for the contest.
In fact, it is necessary to upload 3 songs, directly on the website www.conadjazzcontest.it, in addition to the necessary information about all the band members and a picture or image that represents them in order to complete the participation in the contest.
Registration is free, open to all young Italians and non-Italians as long as they reside in Italy, solo players or bands, aged between 18 and 28 at the time of registration, and now they will have time until 11.59pm of june 8th to register and hope to be amongst the 10 finalists who will perform on the prestigious Umbria Jazz stage during the famous festival to be held in Perugia from 8 to 17 July.
At the end of the registration phase, starting at 11 am on 9 June, the voting phase will begin: a technical jury chaired by Manuele Morbidini, saxophonist and composer as well as music director of the Umbria Jazz Orchestra, will select 9 of the 10 finalists and a people’s jury, composed of anyone who wants to vote for the bands registered directly on the contest website, will decide the 10th finalist.
The 10 finalist bands thus identified will perform on the stage of Umbria Jazz, (Perugia 8-17 July 2022), and will then be judged by an artistic jury – chaired by Stefano Bragatto, Director of Radio Monte Carlo – who will decide the overall winner of the Contest who will win a € 5,000 prize as a contribution to his career development and will have the opportunity to perform throughout the rest of 2022 on the most prestigious jazz stages around Italy.
