Conad and Umbria Jazz again on the hunt for talent
After two years of forced stop finally returns the Conad Jazz Contest, a competition dedicated to emerging musicians under 28 now in its ninth edition edition. A great opportunity for 10 young bands, selected by the online community and by an artistic jury chaired by Stefano Bragatto, Director of Radio Monte Carlo, which will have the opportunity to perform on the prestigious stage of Umbria Jazz (Perugia, 8-17 July 2022). Conad and Umbria Jazz Foundation today launch the ninth Conad Jazz Contest, open to young musicians aged between young musicians aged between 18 and 28 years, soloists or groups, who propose their best jazz songs to earn the visibility of the most coveted jazz stage in Italy. The bands that want to test their talent, starting from today May 5 and until June 1, 2022, will be able to register for free, uploading at least three pieces of their repertoire directly on the website www.conadjazzcontest.it. As always, the prize is the performance on the prestigious stage of Umbria Jazz (July 8-17, 2022) and a great support to the start of the career for the first classified.
Many confirmations for a formula of great success in all previous editions: also this year 10 ensembles or individual artists, selected from both Italian and foreign musicians living in Italy and aged between between 18 and 28 years old. will compete for the presence on the Umbria Jazz stage.
To select the new jazz talents will be also this year two juries: a technical jury
- chaired by Manuele Morbidini, saxophonist and composer as well as musical director of the musical director of the Umbria Jazz Orchestra – which will identify 9 finalists, and the popular jury made of the online community, which will be able to comment on the competing songs and express their vote via web and mobile devices, deciding the tenth finalist.
Upon completion of the definition of the shortlist of 10 finalists and after the performances during the festival in front of the public of the kermesse in Perugia, will be then decreed by the artistic jury, chaired by Stefano Bregatto, Director of Radio Monte Carlo Carlo – with the help of Marco Molendini, journalist, Manuele Morbidini, musician and Director of Umbria Jazz Orchestra, Fabio di Bari, publisher and music producer and Patrizio Romano, Catalogue and Strategic Marketing Director, Warner Music – following the performances of young bands on the prestigious stage of Umbria Jazz, just at its forty-ninth edition. forty-ninth edition.
The competition has also obtained this year the patronage of the Umbria Region and the Municipality of Perugia and it will help as in the past editions to select the emerging jazz bands that will then tread prestigious stages: for the 1° classified, that will win 5.000 euro to to support his career, will be given the opportunity to be included in the lineup of Umbria Jazz Winter #29 and the special prize for the single most promising musician, who will be reserved a place at the Berklee Summer School 2023 at Umbria Jazz Clinics.
