Nine finalists were selected by a technical jury, while the tenth finalist was chosen by the popular jury, with over 7,000 votes.
Conad Jazz Contest, now in its tenth edition, is the competition organized by Conad, in collaboration with the Umbria Jazz Foundation, to promote culture and support the musical career of young musicians.
Bologna, 19 June 2022 . Conad and the Umbria Jazz Foundation, consolidated partners of the Conad Jazz Contest, now in its tenth edition, announce the ten finalists who will compete for the title of the 2023 winner by performing live on stage at the 50th edition of Umbria Jazz (Perugia , 7- July 16, 2023).
The nine bands selected by the Technical Jury – FADE Quartet, Iridescent , Kaleidoscope Quartet, Marco Ullstein , Nothing Serious , Pietro Caroleo Trio, Psoas, Sea Connections and Taurn – together with the selected finalists of the Popular Jury – Camaleoni – will perform live on the Conad Stage of the Carducci Gardens in Perugia as part of the official Umbria Jazz program, starting from 10 July.
The technical jury, chaired by Manuele Morbidini , saxophonist and composer as well as musical director of the Umbria Jazz Orchestra, selected nine of the ten finalists of this edition, while the popular jury selected led to the choice of the Chameleons with 7,028 votes, which won a voucher worth €500 to be used in a recording studio by the end of 2023.
The performances of the ten finalists will take place on the “Conad Stage” of the central Carducci Gardens, in the afternoon of 10, 11 and 12 July, and will be evaluated by an artistic jury – chaired by Stefano Bragatto, Director of Radio Monte Carlo – which will decide the overall winner of the Contest, who will win the final prize of €5,000 as a contribution to his career, as well as having the opportunity to perform during 2023 on the most prestigious jazz stages around Italy.
The winners of the 2022 edition, the Five Angry Men, in fact had the opportunity to perform on the stages of jazz festivals such as UJ Weekend, Il Jazz Italiano per le Terre del Sisma and UJ Winter, as well as in well-known Italian jazz clubs such as the Camera Jazz & Music Club of Bologna and the Blue Note of Milan.
