Conad and the Umbria Jazz Foundation are pleased to announce that the Scannapieco – Geremia 5et is the overall winner of the 2024 edition of the Conad Jazz Contest. The quintet has demonstrated energy, cohesion, and language maturity and thus receives significant career support with a financial contribution of 5,000 euros.
The Artistic Jury, chaired by Stefano Bragatto, Director of Radio Monte Carlo, was able to appreciate the exciting live performances of the 10 finalist bands, who took turns on the “Conad Stage” of the Carducci Gardens on 15, 16 and 17 July at the inside the official programming of Umbria Jazz.
A large audience of jazz enthusiasts followed the finalists’ live performances with great participation during the three days dedicated to the finalists of the Contest.
Lo Scannapieco – Geremia 5et, made up of Antonio Scannapieco, 24 years old, on trumpet, Pasquale Geremia, 22 years old, on tenor saxophone, Guglielmo Santimone, 23 years old, on piano, Angelo Gregorio, 22 years old, on drums and Vincenzo Nigro, 27 years old , on the double bass, has a style that aims to express sounds and timbres, intensities and colors dictated by brass and wood.
This strong creative identity allowed Scannapieco – Geremia 5et to win the prize of 5,000 euros, a contribution that represents an important support for their career. the band will also have the opportunity to perform on the stages of the most prestigious jazz festivals in Italy starting next month.
The tour reserved for the winners and organized by Umbria Jazz includes the performance at Jazz Italiano per l’Aquila (31 August – 01 September 2024), UJ Weekend in Terni (12-15 September 2024), and the one at Umbria Jazz Winter # 31 in Orvieto (28 December 2024 – 1 January 2025), as well as a tour of the most famous jazz clubs in Italy.
Instead it goes to the alto saxophonist Edoardo Donato the opportunity to participate in the Berklee Summer School at Umbria Jazz Clinics 2025 as recognition for the most promising musician.
